Each month we seem to struggle to pull pennies out of the dryer and find the funds to ensure everything is paid for in full. Most of the time we are calling and working with places to do partial payments so we can fund raise the remaining funds or Cathie and Ray pull the money from their very own Bank Account. Yes, these are the true and hard facts of BOA! We basically run a Negative Balance each month. Why you ask? Why can’t you budget better and plan better? Well, no Medical Expense is ever too much! We basically give the Vet (with in reason) an open check book to ensure every Dog and Puppy they see are Healthy Pups. We have paid for many Heartworm Treatments and Follow ups, Tumor Removals, Extensive Blood Work to ensure everything is OK and nothing more serious than Stress Induced Anemia. We are an very open an honest rescue and always have been, but don’t always want to overwhelm our followers with the Sad stories of Cauliflower Ears, Recessed Vulva’s, and Tumors that we say remove and Biopsy, we want to showcase our adorable little's and put most of our focus not on the Sad Stories but to help reach Forever Families for our Rescues! Each Adopter gets a full breakdown on Medical Treatments each individual dog has gone through at the time of Meet and Greet and at time of Adoption. Our adoption fee is $425 for puppies still and has been since the first day of BOA. This adoption fee barely covers the 4 Booster Shots, Rabies, Wellness Exam, Spay/Neuter with Pain Management Meds to take home, De-worming, Micro-chipping with Lifetime registration, and a Nail Trim at our Vet. This doesn’t include the Supplies needed to assist in caring for each Pup such as Food, gazillion pee pads as they learn to potty train, Puppy Toys and Toy replenishing, Treats, Puppy Shampoo, Food Bowls, Crates, X-Pens, blankets, Towels, etc we provide foster homes to care for the pups. We are not government funded and we don’t receive yearly grants. We literally operate off Donations and Adoption Fees. So to answer the question of How and Why when you are getting $425 per puppy, this is how and why.

Its hard to believe BOA is turning 5 already! It seems like just yesterday we were working from our small coffee table in our Living Room and filing everything into a tiny small plastic file box! So far to date BOA has saved XXX Dogs and Puppies and helped them find the Best Most Loving Forever Homes Possible. BOA has come such a long way since day 1 and we thank each one of you! Without you we would not have grown into what we are today. Looking back to the idea and game plan and the look of “ARE YOU CRAZY CATHIE” in Ray’s eyes but him jumping right on board with every idea she had, makes all of us giggle. Cathie and Ray both have put lots of Blood, Sweat, and Tears and the NEVER GIVE UP NO MATTER HOW HARD AND HEARTBREAKING TODAY HAS BEEN attitude into EVERY SINGLE Day for the last 1825 Calendar Days but they have not done it alone. BOA also have been blessed with an INCREDIBLE Network of Dedicated Foster Homes that not only open their homes but their Hearts as well to helping each Dog/Puppy on their journey to finding the perfect Forever Family. We are also very grateful for all of BOA Supporters from the Volunteers, Our Followers, and Donators! Each of you have made a huge impact into BOA and the story we are writing each day. With out every single on of you BOA would not be what we are today and we never have the exact words to express our THANK YOU’S or the right words to express how totally grateful for each of you!

Since April is the 5 year Birthday of BOA we wanted to set a Birthday Fundraising Goal to raise $5000! BOA always has tons of Ideas and Big Dreams ahead of them and forever working to achieve them. BOA plans out using the $5000 we hope to raise this month for the following:

o Pay off our Vet Bill in Full (Almost $3000 to date and still growing)

o Renew our Annual Licenses with the State

o Pay our Business Insurance needed to continue to Operate

o Paying in advance 2 Months of Rent on our Office Location

This year BOA would also like to work on replacing many Missing and Broken X pens and Crates. We would also love to order Max and Neo Collars (because we absolutely love this brand and the company itself) to ensure every Pup and Dog has a Brand New collar to call their very own and take home with them! We are able to purchase these in 100 Qty batches which will bring each collar down to $4 each! Max and Neo currently donate 25 Collars/Leashes to BOA 3 times a year. Most of these are for our Adult Sized Dogs and we would love to also incorporate these to our tiny little's too! So any $1 raised over our $5000 goal this month, will also help us be able to hit our 6th year goal as a Rescue.
